Richard Winther = RDO The house

The house was the home of Richard Winther (1926 - 2007) from 1993 to 2007. It served as an atelier, workshop, living quarters and housed his art collection and a library. He decorated about 72 square meters of walls, doors and ceilings with 56 paintings. Taken together they provide a panoramic autobiographical view of his relationship to women, sexuality, his work as an artist and his views on other essential questions of life: society, Christianity, Buddhism and the reality of everyday life.

He expresses himself through symbols and allegories drawn for European and global visual art, mythology, history and literature often with reference to Ovid. All told they represent a major contribution to Danish visual art of that period and hopefully beyond.

During the season, we arrange exhibitions mainly showing works of Richard Winther.

Opening hours Saturday-Sunday 14.00-17.00 during summertime.
